Programs at Vista Grande Elementary

Math Club - meets after school on Wednesdays for one hour at the lunch tables.  Students work on their Excel math homework and can receive assistance.  Students can also play "math games" after finishing their homework.  Contact your child's teacher if interested or our parent volunteer T'nita Dutro at dutro@cox.net.

Art Docents - Parent volunteers teach a planned art lesson and art project to their child's class approximately 1 hour per month.  Art lesson are already prepared by the school district and there are instructions to help you.

Running Club - Students run, jog or walk around the grassy playground area to earn "miles".  Three laps equals one mile and students can earn "feet" for their keychain for every 10 miles.  Teacher participation varies by classroom.  Volunteers can also take the class outside to run laps or if the teacher does it, then be responsible for logging the "miles" for the classroom on the internet site.   Thank you to our parent volunteer Lisa Warner who coordinates this program.

Student Banking - Each Wednesday, parent volunteers collect deposits for Washington Mutual savings accounts.  Washington Mutual waives their monthly fee for students.   If your child is interested in participating, have her/him stop by the banking table outside the office to pick up an application.  Students get free prizes every other time they make a deposit.

Did you know.....the PTA runs the "Lunch Fund" so if you child forgets their lunch or lunch money, they can go to the office and borrow money to buy lunch.
Welcome to the Vista Grande PTA website.  Here you can find information on all of our upcoming school events, meetings and fundraising efforts. We want to thank all of the parents, relatives and friends who support PTA through your PTA Memberships and by donating through our "Show Me the Money" campaign.

Funding for California Schools  - Did you know property taxes account for less than 26% of school funding in California?  Learn more about how our school is funded by the district, state and federal monies in the California PTA Newsletter (see page 4 & 5).
